Faculty Affairs
The Health Sciences Faculty Affairs team works collaboratively with the Senior Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs to support faculty excellence in teaching, research and creative expression, university and community service at VCU by:
- Supporting an inclusive, collegial and collaborative culture among VCU faculty from recruitment to retirement.
- Providing university-level, strategic leadership and coordination of faculty affairs and faculty-related human resources across campuses.
- Recruiting, retaining, developing and advancing excellent and diverse faculty.
- Facilitating faculty development and mentoring programs and opportunities for all faculty at VCU.
- Providing support and services to faculty to ensure their success.
Services
The Health Sciences Faculty Affairs provides support to health sciences schools on a wide range of initiatives. Send a message to vphsfacaffrs@vcu.edu with requests or questions.
- Oversight of the promotion and tenure process on the MCV Campus
- Consultation and support to deans, faculty affairs leaders in the HS schools and college related to faculty affairs
- Provide individual faculty guidance on career and professional development
- In collaboration with MCV Campus and Monroe Park Campus administrators and faculty write and revise faculty affairs policies
- Oversight of approval process for tenure clock extensions, endowed professor appointments, emeritus appointments, Distinguished
- Career Professorship, and selection of Blick Scholars.
- Plan, develop and implement faculty affairs programs and operations in collaboration with health sciences schools, including faculty onboarding and development programs.
- Develop and distribute communications to faculty and university leaders related to faculty affairs.
- Participate in the development and delivery of new faculty onboarding activities and programs.
- Plan program development and implementation in faculty affairs, including communication to faculty and university leaders, faculty needs assessment, faculty development and mentoring, faculty onboarding, recruitment and retention, and faculty awards and recognition.
Resources
Health Sciences Faculty Affairs resources are available to individuals with current VCU eIDs. These resources include the current promotion and tenure calendar, as well as endowed professorship and Blick Scholar forms and information.
Recruitment Inclusive Champions (RICs) will assist their units with developing and implementing strategic recruitment plans. This may include identifying potential search committee members, establishing strategies targeting faculty candidates from underrepresented groups, integrating inclusive language into written documents and making suggestions for campus visit itineraries. The current list of the MCV Campus RICs is available to individuals with current VCU eIDs.
